‘State of the World’ Roundtable 2026

On Wednesday, 4 February 2026, the Global Foundation convened its ‘State of the World’ Roundtable for the sixth consecutive year, bringing together a carefully selected group of distinguished global citizens to discuss some of the world’s most substantial issues and help shape pathways towards ‘cooperative globalisation’ that is transformative, fair, inclusive and prosperous.

Participants from Global Business, Civil Society, Institutions, Government engaged in dialogue about the world as it is and as it rather should be, and what ought be done, through practical collaboration, to make it better.

The Roundtable featured discussions on climate change, business leadership, and sustainability initiatives, with speakers sharing insights on environmental preservation, corporate responsibility, and the importance of global cooperation. The session concluded with discussions about energy transition plans, climate initiatives, and future meetings, including potential collaborations with key global leaders and organisations.

Ahead of the Roundtable, the Foundation’s Secretary General, Mr Steve Howard, circulated Framing Remarks to give further context to the meeting and purpose going forward as a Global Alliance. Packaged with these framing remarks was a collection of contributions from Partners and Allies, which acted as Advance Papers, detailing the progress of contributors in the Alliance ahead of the dialogue.
