With Australia’s federal election now behind us, it should be possible to encourage greater clarity and certainty from the Australian Government about the nation’s energy transition pathway. On Monday 19 May, the Foundation convened an informal, small-scale meeting of its ‘Australia’s National Energy Transition’ working group to discuss how best the Foundation can contribute to the national agenda.
Notable participants included:
The Hon. Matt Kean – Chair of Australia’s Climate Change Authority and former Treasurer of NSW
Dr Ken Henry AC – Chair of the Nature Finance Council and former Treasury Secretary
Mr Steve Howard – Secretary General, the Global Foundation.
And other key leaders who are invested in a more sustainable Australian energy landscape.
The roundtable was helpful in thinking about how best to navigate the national energy transition. Building on previous roundtables in the Foundation’s ‘Australia’s National Energy Transition’ series, the discussion highlighted the intersection of the issues of climate action and nature.
The discussion was held under Chatham House Rule.
